I'm a young twenty-something and in my quest to be as kind as possible; I have been proned to be the victim of obsessive types. The best and most sure fire way to get rid of a stalker while avoiding as much back lash and awkwardness as possible is to confront it head on. I went through a stalker situation with a neighbor of mine and after recieving obsessive love letters and wild-eyed stares I decided to confront the issue head on. Before acting it is very important to inform close loved ones so they can help you develop a congruent aspect of the situation before acting. Secondly, it is a trying time and emotional support is a must. When you confront the stalker it is important that you NEVER CALL THEM A STALKER. This could prompt him/her. Be as empathetic and reposed as possible during the confrontation and make them aware of how uncomfortable you feel. It is important that you don't appear to be judgemental because this could prompt them to act exceedingly innappropriately. What you want is for the stalker to realize that they aren't in love with you but attributes that you have that they could acquire themselves. For safety reasons never go into their house even if it seems as though the situation has deterred and if anything proceeds and they appear to be too deluded contact the police.
