Causes of armed conflicts

There is one reason, and one reason only, why there are armed conflicts in this world. Any cause that you could come up with will merely relate back to this one principal: misunderstanding.

Why did the United States attack Iraq? Because they misunderstood the wants and needs of the people, and they also misunderstood the threat of Saddam Hussein. Now, this isn't to say that Hussein wasn't a terrible person and that he didn't need to be removed from power. However, let's take a look at history. Whenever there has been a bad leader in power that has needed removal from that power, the people eventually stand up and fight for themselves (i.e.: The U.S., France, Cuba, etc.). In the eyes of the people, if Saddam Hussein was really that terrible of a leader, the people would've eventually risen up and taken over. Even "the people" rising up against a terrible leader is caused by misunderstanding: either the leader is misunderstanding or the people are.

Why are the Israelis and the Palestinians fighting each other? Because they don't understand each others' intentions or religions. 90% of both sides just want the fighting to stop, but, because they don't understand that about each other, they just continue fighting and assuming that other side wants to keep on fighting.

This examples, and more, show exactly why there needs to be more understanding in the world. If we all understood each other a little better, I think this world would be a more wonderful place. But when the hell is that going to happen?
