When depression isn't biological but event / thinking related there is a way to bring yourself around and out. However, you must FIRST seek professional medical help for the symptoms! I have Multiple Sclerosis, the nerve damage has left me bi-polar tending toward depression. My doctors can help me with the physical reasons - it's up to ME to help myself with some of the mental reprogramming that must be done.
Owning a situation simply means accepting that it is what it is. No denial, no blame placing, no guilt! It's stepping outside the situation - WITH NO EMOTION - and saying, "This is where I am, this is what has happened, now - how do I move forward from here?" It is taking responsibility for what will be.
When a person allows denial, tries to place blame, or feels guilt - they are affectively sticking themselves in the past. Being stuck in the past means you have NO power over the situation. In reality it has already happened, there isn't anything you can do anyway. Past is past, you can't do a thing about it (except learn from it and move forward). Taking ownership of the situation brings you back to the now - where all the power TRULY is.
Next - take responsibility for what will be. Now you are EMPOWERING yourself to make positive change. First realize that you are the only one that you can control. No matter how hard you try - you will never be able to control another individual - only yourself. You need to change your perception or your procedure. This can sound really harsh - especially if you really do feel that someone else is to blame. That's why you have to let it go. But remember, letting go does not mean forgetting, condoning the actions of others, or letting someone else hurt you!
Look at perception first. Do you REALLY have all the facts? Or, are you just emoting many of the facts? Have you really sat down with others and found out what they are feeling or why they did what they did? Put your emotions aside for a bit and put on your best investigator hat. Truly look at the situation! Truly look at the people! Make sure your emotion is out of it (the hardest part). There's nothing bad about misunderstanding something and having to admit that you were wrong. Every day there are arguments that end with someone realizing they misunderstood something.
If you truly have the correct perception - than you need to change procedure (because it's obvious that what you are doing isn't working). Using the house key does not start the car! You need to change
