Green Metropolis may sound like some sort of organic Superman fan site but it is in fact a well established and easy to use website for buying and selling books which promotes recycling books, as well as helping you to put a few extra pennies in your pocket if you choose to sell your books.
The website is easy to navigate and simple to use. It isn't an all singing and all dancing website but this makes searching the site and mooching around the different categories of books quick and easy. Over the years I've been using Green Metropolis there have been a number of updates and improvements to the website but it has always remained very simplistic and understated. Unlike Amazon and other online retailers, Green Metropolis is dedicated entirely to books which is perhaps what makes it a bookworm's paradise.
Both buying and selling on Green Metropolis is straightforward. Similarly to Ebay, the books that are listed for sale on Green Metropolis are usually second hand and are sold by private sellers. In order to become a seller you need to register to the website which only takes a matter of minutes. You can then start adding your books for sale, another simple process given that the website searches for your books based on the ISBN. You then enter the condition of your book and there is an area for free text where you can add details about the condition of your book, whether it is a book club copy etc.
One thing that makes the buying and selling processes on Green Metropolis so simple is the set prices. All books are sold at £3.75 including postage unless the seller specifies a reduction if the book is in bad condition or a postage supplement for heavy text books. The seller receives £3 of this for each book sold. As a seller, I find this a very reasonable amount since most books only sell for pennies on Ebay. Also, unlike selling on Amazon marketplace, you won't find yourself competing with endless 1p sellers. The time it takes to sell your books all depends on the length of a piece of string. That said, I do think Green Metropolis has a high amount of traffic as I've often had books sell within hours of being listed. Sometimes sales will come in flurries, other times I will go for weeks without. But since there are no listing fees to pay, I'm quite happy to keep my books listed until they sell.
Once a book does sell, Green Metropolis sends an email to your designated email account telling you which book has sold and where to post it to. Since the postage
