5th wedding anniversary gift ideas

Gift giving is one of my most favorite things.  Finding just the right gift for just the right occasion and not only seeing the expression of surprise, but actual enjoyment of a gift is something I treasure.

For a couple celebrating their fifth wedding anniversary, traditionally the gift is wood.  The modern day gift is silverware, and if you want to give the gift of travel…airline tickets or a cruise will do nicely.

When choosing the right gift, first decide what kind of couple you are giving to.  Are they traditional, modern, or do they like to travel?  This will help you narrow down your choices, then it’s time to shop (my favorite part)!

On www.zchocolat.com they have a knack for combining the beauty of wood with a love for chocolate.  This gift is great and they are left with a keepsake to remember.  Guys this is a good one for your wives too.  She has delicious chocolate to eat and then a jewelry box made of wood and engraved to remember your special day.

Something completely unique is found on www.yourmemorylane.com.  You can take the memories of the couple and an artist creates a one of a kind piece of art.  Frame it in wood and there you've got a great gift.

Then there's www.thingsremembered.comwhich has wonderfully engraved wood items to make a great gift.  You can fill the boxes with something personal for the couple to enjoy!

On the silverware side of things, Oneida has a website where you can order silverware, or you can go to your favorite department store.  One creative thing I found was on a website called www.apartmenttherapy.com.  Julia created a very fun silverware chandelier.  Just search for silverware chandelier and click on the first link.  How much fun to use the idea of the gift in a unique and unexpected way.

For the budget conscience, frame a picture of a fun memory.  (make sure to pick a wood one)  Walmart and Michaels have frames starting around $5.00.  Michaels also sells small wooden plaques.  They run about $1.00.  You can paint a fun phrase that is personal to the two of you or make a picture plaque with some modge podge and a photo, or you can make a few of them like candy hearts with a different thought of love on each one.

I think the most important thing is to give your gift from your heart.  Celebrate the marriages of those around you and as they come to the wonderful milestone of their fifth year they will be encouraged to know that there are people cheering them on to a life filled with love and happiness.  If this is your anniversary, think about how much your significant other means to you and find a way to express it.  It doesn't have to cost much...just share your heart.
