Poetry: Sad goodbyes

by Alex Fitzsimmon

Created on: January 31, 2010

Mid life crisis or mid life dreams
Take your choice
Don’t mistake my actions
I’m not just searching for sexual satisfaction
Listen closely to my tone – my voice
You don’t hear any reconciliation
That’s right cause I don’t care
About you

I’m been a mother, wife and sounding board
I been a maid, cook and errand boy
Disappeared into an abyss
Don’t dare dismiss me
Take a closer look at my eyes
Eyes that speak shear boredom

Once I was a fantastic lover
Nice body, maybe not a ten
But a face that was pretty
Didn’t need makeup to cover up
There was a definite sparkle
Men saw it but not you
Never you

Once filled with life
That flowed from my soul
Always fought for mine
I was cools as a crisp day
Could have waltz away
But listened to sentences
I did what I had – I stayed

Mid life crisis or mid life dreams
Take your choice
Don’t mistake my actions
I’m not just searching for sexual satisfaction
Listen closely to my tone – my voice
And remember why
When you find yourself
Alone
