I Can Dance
If you had not
grabbed my hand
and yanked me
out of my seat
and onto the shiny
oak dance floor
I would not have learned
to do a fast and frenzied
jitterbug
or glide in a waltz
slowly and tenderly
Dropping my hand
and standing off to one side
encouraging me to dance
alone
applauding
smiling
taking my hand again
to teach me yet
another step
I fell in time
moving to match your style
and grace
even inventing some moves
of my own
If you had passed me by
never extending your rough
and calloused hand
I wouldn't be back in my chair
wondering why you stopped dancing
so suddenly
Yet now I know
I can dance
just about any step
with or without you

Poetry: Dancing
Dance
It was only a seaside cafe,
My soul a tendril reaching out
Eagerly cleaving to the silhouette,
Standing on a table near
A Balinese Dancer
Exotic and alluring,
Each movement casts its spell,
Evoking myths and legends,
Such dramas she can tell.
Swaying
DOES HE LIKE TO DANCE
Quiet moments are elusive
Fear born of loneliness is obtrusive
In our fast paced world
by Scott Scherr
Pirouette on Carousel
I penetrate the mist; what's there?
A heart with dreams immune to cares.
Behold such grace of life
On high tip toes
She stretches her leg in the air
The audience is silent
As they mesmerizingly stare
With a twist of the wrist
