How to use Facebook to increase earnings from your Helium articles

by Ruth Belena

Created on: January 30, 2010

Facebook can be effectively used to increase earnings from your online articles. When you gain a greater number of page views from your Facebook friends and fans, and from their followers, you can earn more in daily ad revenue. Joining Facebook will not have an immediate impact, but networking at Facebook will help you to build a strong following and gain more regular readers. This will increase your daily earnings from articles published at revenue sharing websites.

Helium is the biggest online writing community and anyone can be a Helium fan at Facebook. Before you become a fan and start looking for friends at Facebook you will need to set up an account at Facebook and fill in your profile information. You can add a link to your Helium bio page, or feature your list of articles as your website link.

• Make sure privacy settings on your account will permit anyone to see every status update and everything you share on your profile at Facebook. You can keep your real identity private and not allow any of your personal details to be accessible to others.

• Have a username and profile picture at Facebook that will match your author profile on writing websites and in other networks. This will help to establish you as a writer and can help to increase your online following.

Do not have an empty status when you start sending friends requests. Begin by writing something about yourself. You can gradually introduce a few of your articles and links, but not too many to start with. Posting a lot of article links immediately will not increase your earnings, you need to be visiting other Facebook profiles and requesting friends. You should become a fan of Facebook pages and subscribe to groups. More importantly, commenting on and sharing what you find at Facebook will show as status updates on your profile, and indicate to other users that you will be a good Facebook friend.

◊ Share your article links and updates.

Each article at Helium has a Facebook button at the end, so you can easily share a Helium article with your Facebook friends. Your friends can then share some of your best articles with their own followers at Facebook.

If you also have an account at Twitter you can use an application at Facebook to assimilate your Twitter updates into your Facebook status. Then any articles you link in a Twitter update will also appear in an update on Facebook.
