Self motivation will always be stronger than outside motivation and in fact it is the end result of outside motivation. Motivational speakers can fill you to the brim with inspiring quotes and scenarios but it is up to you to identify and harness the power of motivation within yourself. Once a person grasps the feeling, that burning fire inside the solar plexus that refuses to quit, it will be a source of power he can call upon in all times of darkness.
The idea that someone else can motivate you is a little silly. George Carlin once said, "You know what motivation is? A kick in the head." That's right. The real way someone can motivate another person is through pain or fear. Just how the threat of starvation motivates certain people to acquire food in unseemly ways, outside forces can really only motivate you negatively into achieving your goals. The downside of this is the feeling of being powerless, like a pawn.
No, the real way to get motivated is to suddenly realize that you are in control of your life. But first you have to know what you are. You are a roving vehicle of perception. Whether asleep or awake you are the one who sees, who hears, who feels. It is you who receives the information of reality. Then you brain interprets that reality based on constructs imprinted on the mind at an early age. This is called reality tunnel. Some people imprint confident reality tunnels which seek out and welcome new things. Some people imprint frightened reality tunnels which shy away from what is new and different. You can see this all around you in varying extremes.
The trick to this is knowing that you are not your reality tunnel. Your reality tunnel is not reality. It is just the way of seeing. All the things that have happened to you in the past only appear the way they appear as a result of the way you see them. So to finally motivate yourself you must realize, really and truly that you do not have to subscribe to any negative aspects of any reality tunnel. It's easier done than said here as you can tell yourself over and over than you now refuse the negative but it's only until you agree to fight the negative side of your perception that you will see changes.
I am here to tell you personally that it is worth it to fight. Once you agree to start turning the poison in your life into your greatest triumph you will feel like a GOD. You will be unstoppable. Not because the seas part for you but because you refuse to let anything stop you. I know you can do it.
