So I'm entertaining myself with some late night blogging, coffee in hand, seeing what people have to say today (It's an exercise that tends to satisfy the insomniac in me in which I find amusing at best). I'm blogging away, and stumble across this post that announces that a man has just appeared in Time Square, hovering about 30 feet above the ground, claiming to be the Savior and it is the time of the Coming, and then disappears. The blogger further stated that he found this breaking news on a national news network, of which specifically, he neglected to mention. I grin. 'Maybe its just David Blane', I respond. Of all the places in the world, right in our very own Time Square at that! It makes me take note of how arrogant Americans can really be. Everything always seems to happen in New York.
As I thought about it more, I realized that this blogger has actually tickled my curiosity a bit. I check the news, but nothing remotely similar to specter-ism or obvious hoverings. I thumb through. There's an article on the recovery of lost hikers, your basic hodge-podge of headlines regarding political party slandering, a report of another major earthquake hitting Indonesia (I pause on this one and think about it. If I lived there, I'd probably defect at this point), more bombings in Iraq, articles reporting weather conditionsbut nothing about hovering specters. I grin again.
If I remember correctly, the story of the Coming will contain a white horse. Maybe the story has been just a bit modernized, you know, made to fit the current scheme of city infrastructure. I guess one hovering is acceptable. The buildings are, after all, quite tall and seemingly dangerous for the maneuvering of a horse.
Amusingly enough, I did stumble across an article posted on cnn.com about a pastor in Miami, FL who claims he is the modern day Christ, complete with the same spirit that Jesus had 2000 years ago. Possible? Sure, why not. It's important to keep one's mind open, but this pastor 'De Jesus' or 'Daddy' as his followers so affectionately refer to him as, is a former heroin addict with triple sixes tattooed on his arm and drives around in his armored vehicle for his protection, a hefty-priced gift to him from his followers. It's a really big stretch to keep my mind open here.
My point is, apparently my skepticism is running rampant. I grew up understanding that the idea of the Coming of Christ remains a possibility (how remote is anyone's guess), but when claims present themselves that this
