Ways bloggers make money

Bloggers make money when their blogs attract attention and offer something interesting or entertaining. Some bloggers complain they never make much money, and have unrealistic expectations which cause them disappointment, but money making difficulties can be overcome. When a blog is more than just a collection of promotional links, when it has plenty of posts and is getting a lot of traffic, then it can start making money.

1 - Making money from ad revenue.

Bloggers make money from ad revenue when they sign up for ad programs such as Adsense, Chikita and Blogvertise. These are reliable programs but each one has a minimum payout and it does take time to develop a high earning blog.

When each blog post is made search engine friendly it will be indexed by search engines from keywords in the text, the title and the tags. A blog with hundreds of posts, each one with slightly different keywords, will get a lot of search engine traffic and most of the visitors will have some interest in the ads. Whenever a blog visitor clicks on a link in an ad, this will generate some revenue for the blogger.

Successful bloggers are those who target their traffic and attract quality visitors with regular posting of original content. Niche blogs that focus on a single theme are generally the most lucrative for generating ad revenue.

2 - Making money from affiliate programs.

Bloggers make money when they write reviews of affiliate products and offer personal testimonials about services they promote. Visitors who find informative blog posts will click affiliate links to sign up or to make a purchase, and this generates affiliate commission for the blogger.

A blog can be used as a marketing tool, so bloggers can earn regular affiliate income from sales achieved through links and banners. Individual blogs can be set up to promote different types of products and services.

Bloggers who register with Amazon or eBay can customize those affiliate links to show particular items or types of item on their blogs. Bloggers can also make money from individual affiliate programs, and by joining big affiliate programs offering a wide choice of products to promote.

3 - Making money from sponsored blog posts and paid product reviews.

Bloggers make money from paid posting programs. These allow e-commerce businesses to pay for product reviews, and bloggers can get paid for writing sponsored posts about company websites. Bloggers can be paid a set amount for each sponsored article or review, and most of these programs will match businesses to blogs with a related theme.

To qualify for paid posting a blog needs to be between three and six months old, with a lot of posts. A blog will only be acceptable for paid posting when it attracts plenty of visitors from search engines and it is linked back from other websites.

There are additional ways to make money, such as becoming a freelance blogger, but the three main ways bloggers make money are from ad revenue, affiliate programs and paid posting.
