Almost every teenager these days are typing away on a laptop during their class or in their room. The age of desktop computers appear to be dying out; however, the choice between a laptop and a desktop is a matter of convenience and should not be based on the trends. If you are thinking about purchasing a computer and you happen to be staying at home for extended periods of time, then a desktop is perfect. If you are a person who is on the go, which a lot of the population tends to be nowadays, then you want a laptop. There are pros and cons to both devices.
Desktop PC Pros
-The desktop has more memory and a much faster processor, which should indicate less loading times for most programs
-The desktop computer can have parts such as graphic cards replaced with updated ones manually and without the hassle of taking it to the store
-Additional hard drives can be inserted into the desktop computer if there is space. If not, an external hard drive can be installed instead for a much cheaper price
-Does not have a battery so in the future the cost of replacing a battery does not exist and saves the consumer a lot of money
-Most computers include tech support and a limited warranty
-Desktop computers are perfect for PC gamers
Desktop PC
- The device is fixed to one spot and therefore cannot be carried around
-Desktop computers are usually bulky and take up a lot of space
- It is best to not have a computer near the kitchen or bathrooms as excessive humidity could potentially harm a desktop computer, especially the older ones and therefore limits the areas where a computer should be kept.
- Most desktop computers are not set up to have wireless Internet capabilities and therefore must have a cable connection and attached to a model and all that hassle
- A desktop is more expensive than a laptop
- The computer does not have a backup battery when the main power fails and the consumer must purchase a form of generator in order to prevent electrical damage to their computer
Laptop Pros
-Most of the time cheaper than the desktop
-Free mobility, the laptop can be taken anywhere.
-The laptop is wireless Internet compatible and so access to the Internet can be from anywhere
-Does not need to be plugged and thus saving a little on the electric bill
- Light and very easy to carry around
-Provides employees to work on the go with all the programs included in the desktop version
- Most laptops come with a limited warranty and tech support
Laptop Cons
-The laptop is fragile
