Poetry: Freedom from tyranny

by Patrick Marchildon

Created on: January 28, 2010

I just want to be pure

I just want to be pure
Absolved of all sinning behavioral hearsay
Blessed with the touch of innocence
And yet immersed in the knowledge of torture

Cowardice withdrawn from my natural instincts
Powerlust thwarted by a heroic grip
Latching onto humanity’s altruism
Tumbling down insanity’s rabbit hole

I just want to be pure
Like an unclothed and freshly bathed babe
With a playful new world at the end of my finger tips
Joyfully engaging my environment

Fearful lawmaking tax evading tax collectors omitted
No million dollar executive pay-per cuts
Bleeding the middle class
To fill salary priced pens red

I just want to be pure
Let me escape this catholic guilt
Imposing manmade laws imprisoning in nature
Coercing my mind into compromise

While media figures address only superficiality
Attempting to fuel ignorance for harvest
Consumer whores driving economies
Remind me of the collective race to be won
