Several great tips exist when considering ways to expand limited and even spacious living areas once the warm breeze of spring begins.  These tips will vary depending on the availability of outdoor or backyard space at your disposal.

When looking to expand your living space this spring there are many steps that you can take before spring even arrives.  Generally termed as spring cleaning, a good removal of junk in living space, closets, storage, garages and outdoor areas can often reveal spaces you may have forgot you even had.  When time allows, a few simple projects can completed with minimal effort and a bit of extra time and can create great little projects through the dreary months of winter.

~  Out damn clutter!  As the infamous statement goes, ‘if you haven’t worn, used it or ate it in the last six months, toss it’! The number one, best tip for expanding any space is to look at what is taking up this valuable space especially focusing on clutter that might be found inhabiting shelves, counters and corners.  Simply disposing of clutter from living spaces can open up a room more than one would think.

~  That old couch.  Another part of life in 21st century North America that can sometimes accumulate without our even realizing despite its sometimes lofty size is furniture.  If after looking around you discover you have an excess of furniture and furnishing in your home maybe it is time to consider selling or giving away some.

~  Organize, organize, organize.  After all the things that a typical North American family can accumulate over twenty years, it is not a surprise that so many run out of space or feel the need for a larger home.  Many would be surprised how much space they really have underneath all that stuff.  However, once all those things find their home in your home, you will once again reclaim your home.

~  Visuals.  Several other visual tricks can also assist in making interior spaces at least look larger than they are.  Mirrors can be added into hallways and hung on walls; furniture can be rearranged or even try adding a new coat of paint and an accent wall.

~  Move it outside.  For those with outside space to utilize during the warm months of the year there is really no limit to how much you can expand your living space during the spring and summer.  With a little creativity and a patio, backyard or deck area cooking stations, eating areas, living rooms and even your bedroom could possibly be moved outdoors, with privacy and security permitting of course.

Hopefully this spring, with these simple tips provided you will be able to expand your living spaces to new and undiscovered places.
