Confidence has a major role in the art of dance. A dancer cannot go up on stage without confidence in themselves and their skills. Also one cannot get on the dance floor at a nightclub if they are insecure and unsure of what they are doing.
Dancing comes from within, it is the natural reaction of the body when one hears music. The art of dance is present in every culture and in western culture some may regard dance as foolish and something young people indulge in.
Some refuse to dance, especially men as they feel awkward and inhibited.
To dance with confidence you must love to dance and have little regard for what others think of your dancing. Here are come tips that will encourage confidences in dancers.
1. Dance what you love. If you pick a style of dancing you are comfortable with you will feel less insecure.
2. Practise makes perfect. Take some lessons, get out the yellowpages and find a studio near your home. Often classes are inexpensive and convenient. If you just want to learn how to dance at a club some studios offer this as well.
3. Dance. Just get out there, the more you dance the more confident you will become about your dancing. Remember everyone else on the dance floor looks foolish too - they just don't care. Also it will be dark so it is unlikely you will be noticed.
4. Have confidence in yourself. Dancing is natural and is one of the things human beings often crave to do. Your body will move naturally to the music and although it may seem hard at first the more you practise the better you will become. Take a look at professional dancers for instance, they spend every waking moment in a studio perfecting their craft. But in the quest for perfection don't forget to enjoy yourself. You are dancing because you love to do so and that should be the most important factor in the search of confident dancing.
Everyone can dance but not everyone can dance with confidence. If you feel awkward on the dance floor, fake it. Smile and keep going. The appearance of confidence will cover many mistakes, in fact people will see you and your bright smile, not your dance moves.
