A Dream one night
Dreams, alas! Such inconvenient things,
at times. They occur each night
sometimes, flashing messages from what I
believe to be from the other side.
My consciousness vibrant and alive,
like a beam projects my innermost thoughts
to the silver screen in my mind.
Dreams tell a story in disconnected bits,
tied somehow to lives already led, a span of millions
of years in the past, when not even time existed.
Here's my dream I dreamt
one night, not so long ago. It told
a fantastic tale, I am honored to
share with you.
So many images there were,
each occured in quick episodes.
I am in the sky, looking down at
the twinkling city lights, hovering
from many meters high. I am
soaring, drifting for no
apparent rhyme or reason.
It was the 'city of angels', or so
I would like to believe.
Images change in seconds,
from black and white. From the
sky to the earth, now, I am in a car
with people I do not know.
All I can see of myself are my feet in
aquamarine stilettos.
I am passing through rocky terrain full of tall,
thin, flat pillars that are so high that it seems like
they are touching the sky. Another world, it
seems. Have I been here before? It looks familiar,
but, I just don’t know anymore.
Now, I am frantic and desperate
wildly searching and looking for
something I have lost that is dear to me.
Dreams show you things, hard it is to
decipher their meaning. Like the flash
of images I am delineating in the stanzas
to follow.
I am now entering an ornate archway.
I have never before seen such a
glittering spectacle made of gold,
studded with rubies and blue
diamonds that gleam
even in the sun that shines
so bright during the day.
I know I have seen this image before.
Where am I? I just don’t know.
I wake up in my dream from a
deep sleep, euphoric for the insightful
visions I have seen, lying on a cradle
of green grass in what looks to be
a dense forest with tall redwood trees.
The sweet smell of
jasmine blossoms engulfs my
olfactory senses. Is that laughter I hear?
I know the person who is frolicking in the
meadow beyond that thicket of trees.
Who is it? I cannot see. But, I know
who it is.
Am I really living in my dream?
Can I smell, feel, taste and hear sounds in a dream?
Images now change. A dark spectre has taken hold
of my dream. There is no light, not a hint nor a sliver
anywhere in sight.
Am I in a cave, a deep crevice?
Am I falling quickly in to a murky abyss?
No! I cry out to no one in particular.
It’s only the night
