The Rat is the first sign of the Chinese zodiac and is the sign for people born in the Years 1912, 1924, 1936, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, and 1996.
Rats are generally honest, witty, imaginative, and curios people who have keen observation skills and are able to size up situations and people with relative accuracy. They are energetic, talkative and charming but can be easily angered. Rats tend to keep their problems to themselves, but are a good source of advice to others. They are at times untrustworthy as they love to gossip. They love to live in the moment and are generally capable of surviving any situation.
Those born in 1900 and 1960 are Metal Rats and tend to be strong-willed, determined individuals, who can be intensively emotional, and extreme in behaviour. On a negative note Metal rats can have problems with envy and rage and in relationships can be obstinate.
Those born in 1912 and 1972 are Water Rats and tend to be practical, understanding, influential, smart, insightful and good at problem solving. They are typically well liked by others.
Those born in 1924 and 1984 are Wood Rats and tend to enjoy being with friends and family. They are less confident then they appear and tend to be guarded about vulnerabilities. They fear failing but strive for success, often achieving it.
Those born in 1936 and 1996 are Fire Rats and tend to be spontaneous, spirited, zestful individuals who are well liked by others. They like to travel and dislike monotony and routine.
Those born in 1948 and 2008 are Earth Rats and tend towards stability preferring to settle down. They take a slow and steady approach to life and although spontaneity is inherent in all Rats it does not suit Earth Rats.
Rats tend to enjoy good health as they live an active lifestyle and keep in shape. Stress and anxiety are common as Rats can be tense, aggressive, and full of nervous energy.
Rats are suited to careers such as administrator, director, manager, entrepreneur, broadcaster, writer, musician, stand-up comedian, politician, lawyer, researcher, and race car driver. Rats are ambitious, hard working, goal orientated and as such tend to be successful and acquire material possessions. They are likely to be perfectionists. With money they tend to be thrifty. Vocationally they are perceptive and focus on the big picture. They exercise good judgment and problem-solving abilities. They are impressed with status and money and make excellent bosses.
In relationships Rat's are considered charming and have an ability to attract the opposite sex. They are active, social and love meeting new people. They have difficulty moving forward with new relationships. They are most compatible with people born in the years of the Dragon and Monkey, and are usually incompatible with those born in the years of the Horse and Rabbit
