It is likely that the majority of people enjoy pizza, if not love pizza. Pizza is a great food choice for parties, for quick meals, etc. and is a food that many consider to be absolutely delicious. The question however is: Is pizza healthy or is pizza junk?
Of course pizza can be junk if it is not made correctly, but because pizza can be customized to whomever is eating it, pizza is able to become a healthy food choice. Here are some ways that you can make your decision to eat pizza, a great decision:
1) Create your own crust! There are so many recipes and options for making your pizza crusts. Some stores sell pre-made doughs or crusts that you can build your pizza onto, and there are still other options such as flat breads that can create the basis of your healthy pizza! *Remember also that a whole wheat crust will serve you better than a typical white crust.
2) When selecting your cheese, try to make healthier options and cut down on the amount of cheese that is being put onto the pizza. Cheese is after all good for you, but too much of a good thing can sometimes be bad.
3) Toppings! Toppings are the things that make the pizza. Often when you go to a local pizza place, you choose your pizza based on the toppings that are on it. This is where you either make a healthy or unhealthy choice. When choosing perfect toppings for a pizza, vegetables are the way to go. Meats are not the best option for a pizza and are the easiest way to make your pizza unhealthy. Since veggies are a great way to create a healthy pizza, think about creating a rainbow of veggies on top of your cheesy masterpiece! A rainbow of vegetables if a great way to show it is a healthy pizza! Why not add red onions (very nutritious and delicious), or pine apple, tomatoes, spinach, peppers, mushrooms, broccoli and whatever else you would like. Go wild in choosing veggies for your delicious, and healthy pizza!
Next time you have a party, why not serve your healthy pizza to inspire others to make healthier choices with the foods that they already know and love? Making pizza doesn't take long, tastes incredible, is customized to your wants and needs, and is definitely a food that won't be around long enough to become a left-over! Skip the junk food and choose pizza, the yummiest healthy food!
