Buying Cars

Why don't people buy American cars anymore?

Okay, so we're all so smart now. We think that simply buying American is the way to go. So much so that we even rationalize that Toyota is built in America so why not buy Toyota. Americans are building them. Good enough for us?

The problems lie in the fact that we do not export an equal number of American vehicles as we import. Even worse, the "American" vehicles we buy are actually being built here, but the momnies are going over seas.

The big three domestics are taking a bath. Not a good, healthy cleaning, but a drowning. Dealerships are being handed back to the big three faster than you could imagine. Dealers are "walking away" from Chrysler, Ford and GM franchises that once cost millions to get ahold of.

I know, dealers deserve it. Right? Wrong. Do you and I deserve to know that Toyota and Honda are growing in record sales and the big monies are leaving our shores? We say that the dealers deserve to make no dough. We offer pennies over invoice and think they can stay in business. We do what we do as consumers and we dont look to what is coming, as long as we keep our money.

Well, time is coming. Its not that far away. Our economy is so cemented with the automotive business that we are about to sink. We've jumped into the river to catch the pennies someone is throwing off the bridge. Enjoy the ride!
