Poetry: The pain of letting you go

by Smokinlioness

Created on: January 25, 2010

I saw you yesterday, though you didn't recognize my face..
Maybe it's because we passed each other in an unfamiliar place..
The wind blew through the trees, the people went about their day..
I wanted so badly to speak to you, yet I had no words to say..
I keep the memories of us deep inside hoping one day they'll be gone..
I find myself thinking, " what could've been ", then remind myself that it's wrong..
Things happen for a reason even when we don't understand..
I've finally forgotten the way it felt to have you hold my hand..
We've both moved on, and life has found a way to heal my heart..
I now know that we're are so much better because we had the courage to part.
