Pain reaches beyond the physical realm, the deepest pain is found in your heart.
Anything that is so explosive and tender, so passionate and deep, so simple and yet so complex is going to leave behind a mark; and it's going to hurt. It's a powerful thing and when the one you love hurts you it affects everything that you are. That's the nature of love. Think of a rose, a well known symbol for love. The flower blossoms and is the most radiant and breath taking thing your eyes can behold but behind that beautiful and graceful bloom there lies pain, the thorns. One prick can draw blood. When you're in love you become vulnerable and you let yourself trust that other person, when you are exposed you are hurt more easily. You are scared to lose what means most to you, and if you do ever lose it you lose a part of yourself with it. Not only that but you are afraid to hurt the ones you love, their pain is yours and when you're the one who has caused it is far worse. Guilt eats you up.
Love also hurts because it can't always just be love, other things get involved. I'm in love right now, but there are certain things in my life that I must put before that love, so I can't act on it. Other things, believe it or not, have a higher priority than my love for that person. It hurts to hold yourself back when all you want to do is let go but, certain beliefs would just be too harmful to the relationship if we just tried to ignore them. It is unfortunate that in this world love isn't the only thing that matters, it is hard but there are other things to consider when you find someone you care about. You need to establish what is most important to you so that if ever you fall 'in love' you don't lose yourself in the emotion. You don't lose who you are. Know what you believe and what you want and don't waver from that. At the time it may seem stupid and one of the hardest things you've ever had to do but in the end you won't regret keeping your standards. There is someone out there for everyone it is just a matter of finding them.
