I really don’t put much faith in polls and subsequent graphs that attempt to show the number of folks in each category that feel a certain way. That appears to be a political tool more than anything else. More important to me is WHY people feel the way they do. To answer that we must ask a lot of WHY questions and then attempt to come up with valid answers.
Why is everything so fouled up? Why did the sub-prime mortgage fiasco happen in the first place? Why have we spent so much fighting two wars that many feel could and should have been prevented? Why is the U.S. Government now in the Banking and Automobile Industry? Why is the current administration in Washington so hell bent on forcing socialized medicine on the nation when a majority clearly doesn’t want it? Why has the Social Security Fund been robbed to pay for pet projects of members of Congress? Why has the U.S. Government been considered ‘bankrupt’ for some time? Why, even though we’re considered ‘bankrupt’ is the current administration borrowing money and running the presses non-stop at the U.S. Mint so they can spend like there is no tomorrow?
The answer is as simple as it is sickening. That answer has been described as a ‘Culture of corruption’. That ‘Culture’ is based in Washington, DC and it is the ‘Partisan Political System’ as it currently operates in this nation. This system places the desires and well being of ‘Party’ above this nation and its citizens. Our first president, George Washington, was vehemently against the partisan system. The validity of his opinion and concerns has been amply proven over the years.
So, what can we hope to do about it at this late date? There has always been safeguards built into our system of government. The problem is that the American citizens are either too lazy, too ill informed or too uncaring to do what they could and should to ensure that we have individuals of good character and access to a moral compass running this nation. What I am saying is that the condition of this nation is the fault of the voting public.
Yes, the majority of those in office are corrupt and many of them should be in prison. But, we voted them into office and left them there even though they didn’t deserve to stay. We SHOULD demand that the partisan system of government be abolished. However, until that happens, if ever, we should heed the below words from the past that tell us how
