Poetry: Handle with care

by Sue Bluze

Created on: January 24, 2010

I should have guarded my heart more carefully

Stuck up the signs saying "Handle with Care"

Fragile hearts need looking after

Especially one that has already needed repairs

I believed you would be tender

Be my white knight and defender

Only to realise the truth

You are cold and uncouth

You threw my heart down

Dashed it to the ground

Made light of what you had done

And took off at a run

I wish you the best for the future its true

For bitterness  and retribution is not my style

I really hope you don't get treated

The way you did to me

I'll leave it to karma

To give you your rewards

Now I'm left gathering the pieces

Of a heart that is broken

Shattered, battered  and forlorn

How i wish I had spoken

And said "Handle with Care"
