Title endorsed in part by:

Created on: January 24, 2010

First of all, the Haitians need our prayers; secondly, they need our money. At this time, although they need food, water, medical supplies, clothing, and many other items; it is impossible for individuals to get them there. Everyone, including the media, churches, nonprofit organizations, etc., are requesting our monetary contributions.

The Red Cross has an ad on television asking for donations, and The First Lady Michelle Obama is also on an advertisement asking that we text a $10 donation to the Red Cross at 90999.

The Clinton-Bush Haiti Foundation is requesting us to send a contribution to their foundation. You can contribute several ways: Clintonbushfoundation.org, Text Quake to 20222. You can also send a check or money order to their Foundation by going to their website for addresses in Arkansas and Texas.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has also compiled a listing on its website of reliable organizations so that people do not donate to a scam.

If you want your donation to purchase medical supplies, clean water, or therapeutic foods; you can go to: Google.com/relief/haitiearthquake/. They have set up information on the website for donations to the following organizations:

1) Yele Haiti - Actor, Wyclef Jean's nonprofit organization.To give a $5 donation to Yele, Text 501501

2) Feed the Children - They say food, water, and medicines are still urgently needed. You can also go to Feedthechildren.org.

3) Habitat for Humanity - This nonprofit housing needs volunteers as well as money. You can contribute at Google or at Habitat.org/ which is their website. They were working to refurbish housing for the victims.

4) Save the Children - You can also go to Savethechildren.net/alliance/.

5) Mercy Corps - An organization that has been working in Haiti for years. You can donate to Google or their site at Mercycorp.org/.

Amazon.com also has a donation box on its Home Page.

Feedthechildren.org will accept contributions.

Globalgiving.org will distribute your contributions between 16 projects in Haiti.

Hands and Feet has partnered with G.O. Ministries to bring relief to Haiti. Go to Handsandfeet.org to make donations.

Doctors without Borders has worked in Haiti for 19 years. They are now asking that contributions be given to them so they can continue to administer emergency relief to Haitian victims. The funds will be distributed as needed. To contribute, go to Doctorswithoutborders.org.

There are many websites that you can contribite to, or you can also text your donation. It will take many years to rebuild Haiti, so continuous contributions will be accepted.
