A country divided: Political tensions building in America

When I was much younger, I felt that all who were in this nation actually loved the U.S.A. and what it stands for. Sadly, the passing years have shown me just how naive my thinking was. This noble experiment that was created as a Constitutional Federated Republic, a nation of laws, was a disappointment to those who would rather it had been a pure Democracy, or a government of men.

Over the years, those who prefer a pure democracy plus others who have been taken in by the promises of the socialist/communist ideology have been joined by other dissatisfied individuals. Anti-religious zealots, atheists, humanists, various racial groups and others have been embraced by major political parties. This was originally done to gain votes and partisan financial support but many of the groups and factions have gained such power that they now tend to direct the goals of the party.

This has led to unimagined consequences that have changed this nation into something that it was never meant to be. Our Constitution has been circumvented and ignored so that radical policies never intended could be implemented. Federal judgeships are awarded based on ideology rather than actual qualification. This even extends to Supreme Court Judges who are appointed for life. The ludicrous policy known as Political Correctness has seriously prevented the use of logic and common sense in many areas. All of these problems and many more can be blamed on the partisan political system.

This political system is problematic for any nation and should be abandoned. By saying this I don't mean to imply an endorsement for Socialism or some type of a single party system. One of the first to voice doubts concerning the problems inherent in the partisan system was George Washington. He certainly hit the nail on the head. Anyone who can look at the bickering, lies, mean spiritedness, hypocrisy and  sheer amount of money spent in a presidential campaign, without getting thoroughly disgusted, is just not thinking clearly.

All Americans need to put on their thinking caps and attempt to think "outside the box".  Think of how much things have changed since the founding of this Republic that we know as America. Think of those both inside and outside of government that are enemies of what this nation was founded to be. Does the ideology and actions of either major party indicate that they are a threat to our Constitution and thus our way of life? If we as citizens
