A family is the people you surround yourself with that care about you, have been through hard times with you; people who can tell you like it is and help you move forward in life. They are people you fight with but in the end everything turns out OK again. A family does not mean you are blood related, it doesn't mean you live under the same roof, a family is one unit that works together to get ahead in this life.
The dictionary may state a family as being:any group of persons closely related by blood, as parents, children, uncles, aunts, and cousins. But many families today are in no way blood related. I was adopted into my family by my father we don't share a drop of blood, but we're still family. My best friend and I spend days together and he is there for me more than any one else I know, we don't share a drop of blood but we are family. There are countless people out there who have no blood relatives or have been abandon by those relatives but in their friends they find solitude and support, they find family. So what would be in question here would be the difference between a relative and some one who you consider family. Real families love each other. You don't always like them or what they do but you love them reguardless of everything.
