"Have you got some money to spare?" the man asked many that passed him on the street. Not long ago, many would have thought he was homeless because he just didn't care - or because he was too sorry to get a job. But, many today line the streets with an educational background, a parent who can't provide for his children because he lost his job,or even worse a child who can't provide for himself because his parents decided to bail out.
Those that live for God can't explain the "all of a sudden" economical crisis we are in today, although they seem to be the target for answers. But we can explain that we serve a God who loves us and is still in control.Putting emotions aside and trusting in our Creator is hard to do when people are horrified at the thought of not being in control of their situation anymore. When we put our emotions ahead of our trust in God - we are attempting to sit on the throne, and only God truly belongs there.
He can see the heartaches, He can see the hurt and pain we are all facing today, He can also see that we need His help. God is willing to help all of us - just for the asking. No, God won't put a million dollars in our laps after we say a small prayer. But, He knows what we stand in need of and is willing to provide for our needs. His Word tells us that He will never leave us nor forsake us - but how much of that do we believe when we start allowing our emotional thoughts to determine how we will live our lives?
When we truly believe that God is in control, and that we need Him in our lives, we began to trust that He is the only One who can meet our needs. Putting our emotions aside and trusting in God is imperative today. We might say, "I trust God", but until we start putting these words into action - we won't see the results of the kind of life we want to live. Trusting in God begins with prayer, and asking for the strength to truly hand over all of our burdens, it continues with a daily commitment to talk with Him, read His instructions for us, and obediently walking in His light.
Trusting in God proves that we have a deep understanding of God's love for us and His ability to take care of our needs. We can't allow our emotions to take the place of our trust in Him.
