In 1971, what is known to us today as a hip-hop icon, Tupac, the infamous Makaveli was born.
By far Tupac Shakur is the greatest rapper of all time. He was mostly known for his realistic lyrics, that told the story of African Americans everywhere, not just African Americans, but proverty stricken youths across the nation. One way the youths of america could relate to Tupac is through a similar situation, by which it was known that he just as well as most people in our culture were a part of, a single parent home. Far most, he was raised by his mother Afinnie Shakur who was revealed in his songs, "I ain't mad at cha,"( where he refers to them as being broke with no lights on),and "Unconditional Love"(where he asked his mother why he had this urge to die and she replied, "for we was born without a silver spoon. My broken down t.v. showed cartoons in the living room."
He wasn't the only rapper that talked about these problems. It was his style that made him unique, He was not only an M.C. but a poet. He touched on basics in a way that no other rapper could. In the error of 1995-2000 when gang violence and murder was at a most high, that was around the time that Tupac released the albums "Me aginst the world" and "Thug Life" giving people hope that Aferican Americans could do something more than sell dope and rob. He also had a way of leaving people wanting more.
Tupac was also known for more than being a lyricist. He was versatile and multi-talented. Meaning, not only did he rap but he also made movies making his mark across the contry as an actor. Tupac is a house hold name. Not only did he touch troubled youths, but he touched parents and grand parents alike, in a way that no other rapper has.
In 1996, Tupac was fatally shot, devastating hip-hop fans across America. In desperation people grew weary that no one would ever see or hear his subtle lyrics again. It is now 2007, and no one knew that we would still have the pleasure of listening to new songs by the deceased, Tupac Shakur, 11 years later. In order for this to be, he would have had to be the most dedicated artist ever to have grazed the nation with his talent.
That is why to me he is the best of all time. I know that I am glad to have lived in the era of the notorius Tupac (Makaveli) Shakur.
