Parents....yes, without them we won't be here
But with them, you got a lot to hear
They grumble, nag and scold
For exams are near you're told
They are people who care and love you
Shelter, food and money they give you
They can actually think that "Spice Girls" look like "The Saints"
Oh....parents are queer, really
Fun and laughter they share with you daily
They also make sure you get the best of everything
Just when you think you're so lucky
They'll start their nagging
Fathers....some will go with anything
Some are just plain fussy
But whatever it is, they're just human beings
Towards you, they've got a responsibility
Mothers....gentle beings they can be
But watch out, some are overprotective and strict
You can pour out your heart to dear mummy
And she'll try to solve it quick
When girls call, some will wonder and ask
"Who was that?"
But some won't give you a chance
And will question you till you turn blue
Parents....some think they know everything best
And will send you to tuition and music classes even without your request
While some are liberated and easy-going
And if you feel like you don't want to go to school
You can always give it a miss
When exam results are out
That's when you got to watch out
If it's good - you'll make them proud
If it's bad - get ready an explanation that'll knock them out
Some may think that you shouldn't watch too much of "Spice Girls"
But some will shake and groove along with you
Some think that pop music is a waste of time
While some will say that those "Code Red" guys are just fine
To you parties may seem fun
But to some parents it's just mixing with a mad bunch
To save the day, tell them that after the party you'll be good
And believe me some will actually think you're telling the truth!
But on the whole
Parents' love is much more precious than gold
For even when they scold
They still love you so
So you readers, listen
Though the poem may seem light and funny
Take your parents' love SERIOUSLY!
For there are many children in this world
Who don't have any love
Show your parents that you love them
Then and only then
Will your love for them be complete
*Poem penned down when I was still in secondary school*

to them you're their reason for living,
