To piggyback on Ms. Alloy's editorial here, I would like to address the state of our nation as how it relates to unemployment. I can only say I agree with the writer. In more recent years, the United States has been battling a long-waging war in Iraq that draws billions of dollars a week out of the gross domestic product. Our jobs are moving to countries we have never even heard of. More and more companies want to hire new-comers with experience, but yet if you have an actual four-year degree from an accredited college, and I don't mean one of these fly-by-night operations, either, then you are out of the picture. To make a long-winded story short. Employers can not afford to pay college graduates what they are worth, this is the reason why they like to say to these people, "You are over-qualified. This position is too entry level for you." There is a population of very talented, intelligent people that have graduated from the best schools in the country and no one is giving them a chance. Yes, the United States needs to help its citizens. A national job bank is the best thing that could happen right now to match the right people with the right careers.
