 Once upon a November

As I stand here in my office/ spare bedroom doing an extensive inventory of all I hold dear or should I say “deer”, I am amazed at just how much hunting gear I have. How did I come into the possession of so much stuff? Where did it all come from? Just how much money have I spent? I think it all happened once upon a November.

Once upon a November, I had a rifle, a knife, an orange vest and some army surplus camouflage. Deer hunting was still young and fresh in my eyes. Armed with the knowledge of the ages, I headed to the deer woods confidence flowing in my veins. Once upon a November, I learned to never trust anyone who claims to know anything about whitetail deer. I saw even less deer than before. I just could not figure; all those folks smiled so sincerely as they lied their butts off.

I am sure at least some of this brings back memories to most of you. I have found that becoming a confident bring home the meat and antlers hunter is a learning process that I have also found out never ends. Every time you think you know exactly what your quarry is fixing to do; Murphy’s
