The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston debuted on the centennial and has been educated Bostonians and visitors ever since, growing to the 450,000 piece collection it boasts today.
When making your visit you can enter at the State St Corporation Fenway entrance where you can valet park for $3, or the Huntington entrance on the other side of the complex. If you prefer to park yourself all three parking lots can be accessed on museum Rd.
After you purchase your tickets upon coming through the State St Corporation Fenway entrance you can turn to your right to check out the exhibits in the Modern Art and 18 and 19th century American art galleries. Behind those galleries lies the Foster Gallery, MFA’s space for special exhibits. At the moment the Foster Galleries are the home of “Contemporary Outlook: Seeing Songs” which presents pieces from the museum’s collection that were directly influenced by music.
Behind the Foster Galleries and their special exhibits are the Museum bookstore and shop, which are both open during museum hours.
Deeper into the museum, near the Rotunda, is the Torf Gallery, another special exhibits venue. Step to the opposite side of the rotunda to see the pieces in rooms dedicated to the more specific the Musical instrument room and the Morse Study Room for Works on paper.
If you enter by the Huntington entrance you’d soon be greeted by the ancient and morbid in the narrow Old Kingdom Funerary arts gallery and the mummies of the Egyptian Funerary Arts.
On the second level of the museum you’ll find the works of the Old European Masters and the Italian renaissance. Also on the second level is the Buddhist temple room and the European silver.
