How To Achieve Great Weight Loss Results With Wild Mango
Wild mango (Irvingia gabonensis) is the latest botanical compound that's been discovered to have great weight loss benefits. In fact, the discoveries around wild mango are so new you might not have even heard of them yet. But you will very soon. In the near future, wild mango will likely become the next açaí berry.
What Is Wild Mango?
Wild mango, also known as Irvingia ganonensis or bush mango, is a tree indigenous to West Africa. Native peoples harvest mangos from the tree. Unlike most mangos, the wild mango has an edible seed or nut inside the fruit. This nut is known as ogbono, etima, odika or odika nuts. Like most other nuts and seeds, the Irvingia ganonensis seed is high in fat. Oil can be extracted from it.
The link between wild mango and weight loss was first discovered when a university epidemiological study in Cameroon found that people who lived in a certain region had a much lower incidence of obesity, diabetes and other weight-related diseases. Scientists scrutinized these results and then began to study these unusually slender, healthy people. Soon, researchers discovered that the Cameroonians regularly used Irvingia ganonensis seed paste to thicken their soups. Wild mango nuts were a staple part of the diet of these healthy people.
What Is The Link Between Wild Mango and Weight Loss?
After this preliminary research, researchers at the Laboratory of Nutrition and Nutritional Biochemistry set up a randomized double-blind study to test the effects of wild mango. Two sets of individuals took part in the experiment. The groups shared an identical diet but one group received one gram of Irvingia ganonensis extract three times per day. After 30 days, the results were tallied.
The wild mango group lost an average of 12 pounds (about one pound every three days). In addition, this group had lower blood pressure, lower cholesterol and lower triglycerides. The proportion of HDL (good) cholesterol increased.
A follow-up study found identical results: relatively fast weight loss, improved blood pressure and cholesterol.
What's even better is that this weight loss occurs even without any change at all in diet or exercise.
A Scientific Explanation Of Wild Mango's Weight Loss Effects
The second study mentioned above (from March 2008) involved a more in-depth analysis of the mechanism of weight loss. Scientists found that the levels of C-reactive protein (an indicator
