Have you ever heard of "fad" diets? This definition has become extremely popular in the last years. And why is that? We cannot simply avoid the fact that obesity has become a great health problem in our community. The problem here is not only the appearance, it is also the health damage that obesity causes. That is why the weight loss industry has become extremely popular in the past years, and earns more and more profits every day from new famous weight loss supplements, fitness programs and of course diets.
Generally “fad” diets are the diets of the day. They promise fast results and all work under the slogan – “effective”. But can you actually imagine what you do to your organism by sticking to one or another fad diet? And can you imagine losing weight, that you have gained for years overnight? Yes, too good to be true. However people tend to believe this is possible. And that’s how we are back to our issue at first place – the profit of the weight loss industry from more and more modern methods for getting rid of the extra weight.
There is one simple fact that cannot be ignored – our weight is a reflection of our lifestyle. Of course we exclude extraordinary cases here, but let us stop for a while and think over the titles we read every day on the net, or in the fashion magazines – “lose weight in 10 days”, “the most effective diet ever – lose weight with no hunger”, “10 simple tricks to drop the extra pounds” – these and thousands more titles like these are posted daily everywhere. So you simply cannot avoid them. But let’s face it – who wants to stick to a hard healthy nutritional plan, that won’t work for a week or two, but maybe for months? At this point we all think – “why do I starve for nothing”, and only few of us can see how good they actually feel, while eating healthy and how they lose weight healthy and what’s more – effective. Because there is also another point here – the faster you lose weight, the faster you put them on back.
So to summarize the whole story – fad diets are unhealthy diets. They are the diets of the day, the diets some famous star has tried lately, or the diets that have a wonderful marketing and promise miracle results in no time. Some of them may really work, other may not. But the point is – we have to be reasonable. We have to do a good research on the topic. Remember one thing – good thinks take time, and if fad diets were as effective as everyone claims we all would have been slim and age, lifestyle or metabolism would never have been a problem to anyone. Moreover – we should all keep the fact in mind, that some fad diets can be not only unhelpful but also damaging to our health.
