Poetry: Physical abuse

WHY DON'T YOU RUN?

I heard your cries
But you stay for more

You hide the bruises
Beneath powder
Under war pant
The bruises fade
Why don't you run?

When you hear him
when you see him
he makes you cry
Why don't you run?
