Spring is a wonderful season bringing an end to the dreariness of winter and the awaking of life with the feeling of newness. With the awaking of spring comes the awaking of the creativity in everyone and there are spring craft ideas aplenty to satisfy this creativity. This can range from something quite elaborate to something very simplistic. All that is required is a little of your time and a few suggestions of what to make and how to make it.
Clay pot bird bath
With flowers coming to life and birds returning to the warm days of spring a bird bath is the ideal thing to welcome them. All you need to make this happen is a terra cotta clay pot with a saucer. This pot and saucer should be at least sixteen inches in diameter or bigger and the higher it is the better bird bath you will have. You will also need some paint and a spray on sealer to put a finish on the project.
Start by cleaning your terra cotta pot well. If you have a used terra cotta pot then freshen it up with a basic coat of paint before you get down to business. Give it ample time to dry before you start your project. This project is very simple and just the type of project you can have the kids help you with. Start by painting designs on the pot. These can be in the form of flowers, birds or anything that moves you. You can paint designs on your pot or use a kid friendly paint and get the kids to put their hand prints right on the pot. When your paint is dry you can apply your sealer.
Sometimes it will take a few coats of sealer to cover your pot and saucer. It is very important that it is sealed well. After the sealer is really dry take your pot outside and pick a place on the lawn to display your art. Place the pot upside down and place the saucer on top of the bottom of the pot. If you feel that it is not going to stay there use a little glue to keep it in place once this is done you can place some water in the saucer. You are now the owner of a bird bath that will be greatly appreciated by the birds.
Small Easter basket
Easter is a major holiday of spring and time to come up with some unique ideas such as this Easter basket. This project can be a family affair where the kid’s can partake with your supervision. You will need a small woven basket, material of your choosing, and a pair of pinking scissors, a screw driver and some cardboard. To make a larger basket just double the amount of the material.
Start your project by cutting out a piece of the cardboard for a template
