Keep your money in the bank! Homemade gifts are more popular than ever. And in this economic downturn, where budgets are tighter than ever, coming up with creative homemade gifts for your boyfriend is more important than ever! Whether it’s for the holiday season, a birthday or anniversary, lack of budget need not stop you!

Here are ten affordable homemade gift ideas that the man in your life with love and appreciate, and, will help get your creative juices flowing.  

1. Play hooky and stay in bed all day! Arrange a tray of snacks, music and movies, be sure to turn off the phone, or anything else you own that can cause distractions, and have a fun and relaxing day together.

2. Take his aging concert posters, t-shirts or memorabilia and frame them. Need an affordable frame? Check out your local thrift store or search out yard sales. Check out Freecycle, a website where people give away things they don’t need, and people can ask for things they do!

3. Give your man a Night out with the Boys. Save up a stack of one dollar bills and package it in something naughty. Better yet, print up a stack of fake dollar bills and give him a show he’ll never forget, put on by you.

4. Do you have a talent you could trade or barter a gift for? A couple of examples: You teach music lessons and can trade those lessons for a weekly massage. Or, trade walking someone’s dogs in exchange for lawn care, or house cleaning for baby sitting. You get the picture. In times of budget tightening, trading services is a great way to get things you want. Just imagine getting exercise by walking dogs, and at the same time getting your boyfriend those guitar lessons he’s always desired. Every guy wants to be a rock star!

5. Detail his car. Better yet, do it in your Bikini!

7. Gift of the Month Club! The same day each month you deliver a handmade gift; whether food or drink, hand knitted gloves or scarves, etc. Be sure to make it personal and thoughtful. Its time you are giving directly to him each month.
