When I was younger, my whole family used to live on a back road that bore the same last name as the main branch of our family. It was a gravel road, and since it was only our families that lived on that road, we could go out and play in the middle of the road without fear of being run over by a car. All of us children would go out, in the middle of the road, and play volleyball or Frisbee . In one of our yards by the road we had set up a horseshoe pit. We also had a very large oak tree that had a tire swing on it, and we built a fort of sorts off of the side of that road. I spent most of my time outside playing with my cousins, riding my bike up and down that road, or just calling across the road for one of them to come and play with me.
That road was the perfect place for all of the kids to play without fear of cars or strangers. It symbolized the unity that our family had. That road still exists today, but most of the family have moved on to other places or have gone on to Heaven...but no matter how far we have all gone or who we've lost, I'm sure all of us remember that road as our favorite place for all time.
