Time management and goal setting are keys to a truly successful and fulfilling life. Each helps maintain a balance of every aspect of life, from business, personal, social and an everyday lifestyle. In order to set your objectives and goals more effectively you need to write them down – “Think on Paper” as Brian Tracy, of Brian Tracy International suggests. The goal is to achieve your personal and business goals faster and easier than you ever imagined and it all starts by writing them down.
Writing down your objectives in a clear manner is an important step towards achieving them. By writing them down it forces you to visualize them and creates a commitment to achieve them.
Whether you are a top level executive of a company or the leader of your family, you need to think ahead. This is called ‘planning’. In order to achieve higher levels of success and or fulfillment in life, implement the 6P Formula to success. Proper Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance. This is true on a daily basis as it is true for a 10 year long term goal. It all starts by writing down your goals and objectives!
Here are the 3 basic steps on setting your objectives more effectively.
1. Write Down Your Goals & Objectives
2. Keep them Visible
3. Commit to do something every day to achieve them
These 3 steps are not secrets to success. They are tried, true, and taught by the top leaders of management concepts and personal development motivators. Each has their own ‘set of rules’ to apply but they all boil down to the three above.
1. Write Down Your Goals & Objectives
Writing down all your goals will help you determine what is top priority and what should be left out. Based on your personal values, your priorities in life, identify which goals, if achieved, will make you a better person as you achieve them and as you accomplish them.
Brain Tracy refers to Creative Procrastination. This is a way to stop doing things of low value by doing things of higher value first. Procrastinate on the lower value objectives and concentrate on the most important ones first.
Once you determine your ‘ultimate’ goals and objectives write them down in a clear concise manner – develop a plan of action on how to attain them. Again, write down a list of tasks in order to achieve the goal because without a map or plan, you will aimlessly try to achieve the goal. This leads to frustration and eventual failure.
2. Keep them Visible
