Soap and Glory products are only currently sold in Boots stores and they are becoming very popular. This is why I decided to try their "Scrub of Your Life" body exfoliator.
The tube is the familiar pink colour with a design reminiscent of the 50s or 60s. There was plenty of writing on the front and it also states that it is a new moisture-foam formula. On opening the tube the smell is quite strong. Everyone seems to rave about the aroma but I didn’t like it at all, it reminded me of cheap, alcohol-based cosmetics and I was quite surprised as I expected something more “girly”.
However the promise of silky smooth skin was enough for me to decide to give it a try anyway. The instructions on the rear advised me to wet my skin in the shower, turn off the water and then use the scrub on all areas that I think need it. I got my skin wet and turned off the shower and set to work. The tube is quite large but the flip-top lid made it easy to open. I squeezed a good size dollop onto my hand; it was a clear pink gel with lots of pink grains in it. I thought it looked really attractive but I still wasn’t impressed by the smell. I set about rubbing it into my thighs and it soon turned white whilst producing a small amount of foam. The scrub felt really good, it was rough enough to feel as if it was working but not harsh enough to make me think that it was scratching my skin. I decided that I needed more gel to use on my arms. This time, due to the fact my hands were slippery, I had a little more trouble getting the lid open but I did manage it eventually. Once I had given myself a good scrub I turned the shower back on to rinse it off. The product rinsed off really easily without leaving a greasy film or irritating little “bits” on the skin, problems I have encountered with other similar products.
I tend to always use a moisturiser after the shower and when I went to apply it I noticed that my skin did, indeed, feel a lot smoother than before. My elbows felt lovely and soft and my thighs were definitely softer and smoother. I was really impressed with the results and I have used it several times since. The feel of my skin has definitely improved and I must admit that the fragrance is growing on me and I quite like it now. I have just found out that my daughter has also been trying this product (no wonder nothing lasts long in this house!) and she really likes it too.
The product comes in a 200ml tube and retails at about £6.40 (Oct 2009). I think that this is a fair price for the quality of the scrub. I will certainly carry on using it but will keep an eye open for when there is another offer!
