Each and everyday in managing your business, you may come across hundreds of challenges that require good decision making skills. Here are three ways on how being decisive makes you more effective as a manager.

1.) Decisions are energy.

Sometimes, simply making a decision is difficult because of fear of getting it wrong! However, sometimes just making a move is good! It is energy set in motion. Good managers always use educated guesses, leave room for error, make adjustments and are flexible to change.

The ability to make decisions, can separate a leader from a loser. Even when you make the wrong decision you are trying, instead of just sitting around and waiting for things to happen. Successful managers are always in motion, and are not afraid to fail. They understand that you must make mistakes and learn from them in order to make yourself better.

2.) Decisiveness breeds confidence

A little boy is playing with his bat and ball. He tosses the ball up in the air and claims, I am the greatest hitter in the world, he swings, and misses. He then shouts out his greatness, swings his bat, again misses. On the third try, he tosses the ball up yet again, and shouts, I am the greatest hitter in the world, he swings, misses, and exclaims, I am the greatest pitcher in the world!

You gotta love the confidence here! Decisive managers are more confident and are better leaders. Making choices is a big part of the job of a leader. People look to you for guidance and when you respond with good decisions, you gain respect. As a manager, earning their respect is the most important task ahead of you. People appreciate, respect, and admire good decision making.

3.) Leaders decide

Making decisions is a gift you have been entrusted with. You are lucky to get this privilege. You are the leader and get to decide all kinds of things that make a difference as to the quality, pride, and standards that can make the difference in the lives of others.

Being decisive helps to make you a good manager. It sharpens your analytical skills, offers opportunities to improve, and sets the tone of the business. How a manager goes about being decisive will decide how effectively decisive that manager really is. When you put forth positive energy, and harnesses the good energy around you, display confidence, and appreciates the powers bestowed, you will be a more effective decision maker, and establish a really good foundation, for all great things to come.
