Mitt Romney: Can a Mormon get elected president of the U.S.?

by Tylan Glines

Created on: January 19, 2010   Last Updated: January 21, 2010

This is when I am severely grateful for our founding fathers. I can end this question by simply stating the 1st Amendment of the United States of America:

Freedom of Religion:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Look again fellow citizens, "CONGRESS SHALL MAKE NO LAW RESPECTING AN ESTABLISHMENT OF RELIGION, OR PROHIBITING THE FREE EXERCISE THEREOF;"

You cannot place a judgement on Mitt Romney because he is a member of the LDS faith. He too can run and be president of the United States.

There is nothing wrong with Mitt Romney becoming president just because he is Mormon. LDS members obtain and carry  more knowledge then the US thinks. He would be a great president. He has an endless amount of knowledge when it comes to finance and business. He currently has a Net Worth of $202 Million!

That is like saying: "Barak Obama: Can a Muslim be elected as president of the U.S.? Wrong. Even though I do not agree with Obama's views, I still say that any religion may participate in the running to be president of the U.S.

I hope that people will agree with what I have said. You know what, let me reword that. You HAVE to agree with what I said; It is an Amendment of the UNITED STATES! It was written by our Founding Fathers, and they are the base of this wonderful country.

That is what "sucks" about these days, our leaders do not understand the importance of the DOI, Preamble, and Amendments. Our country started that way, and is going to go down in History like that. Please, don't get discouraged, and AGREE!

Back to Mitt Romney. He is 100% allowed to run as president of the United States even with his Mormon Religion. I too am mormon, and will support him to the fullest.

He has every right to be the president, and that is how it will always be, no matter how hard the Liberals try to turn it around.

Amen.

My answer is Yes, and so is the Founding Fathers, refer to Amendment 1: Freedom of Religion, Press, Expression.
