I'm gonna piggy-back off this very intelligent piece. Not only do I think the writer's argument seems very valid considering each religious belief, backed by its respective "one and only" good Book has been written my man, not God. Before they come out of the woodwork, let me address those speaking of prophets and people to whom God himself has spoken to personally: its still hearsay. Sorry, but it is. You may say "take your word" or "have faith" which are two understandable remarks concerning the issue, but not solid undeniable evidence. We all create, or cling to, a religion or set of beliefs that when it all boils down to it: helps us get through the day. For the record, I grew up Methodist in Texas, sometimes referred to as a part of the "Bible Belt." I'm as Christian as the next guy. I believe in God. I know right from wrong- at least I think I do- and I try to live by the Golden Rule as often as possible. I believe we are NOT here by some fluke or that my ancestor is a frog or an ape (maybe the ape's a distant cousin). Charles Darwin, himself, was reported to have denounced his theories and switched to Christianity upon his deathbed. That being said, I believe we have all heard of a little children's game called "telephone." For those that have not, it is a game where the children line up and one child is told something at one end, and one by one the children pass the information along to their neighbor until it reaches the last child. Turns out, what would start out as "Peggy went to the market to see Dina" may end up more like "Danny took Peggy to Mardi Gras." I believe the same may have somehow happened when it comes to explaining the variations in all the world's different religions. People take what they see and hear and translate it in their heads to better understand it. There's a story about a guy at a shopping mall. He was waiting on his wife while she tried on dress after dress and he finally stepped outside to get some air. As he did, he sees this stunning woman walking towards him. He looks, then looks away when she winks at him! She actually winked at him and he's standing there embarrassed he got caught looking at her while his wife is just inside the store. He starts to fidget when the woman comes up to him. He politely says "hello" as the woman winks again. This guy is just floored. He starts to get nervous, feeling a bit like he should head back in the store when the woman looks confused and asks him, "Do you have a tissue? I have something
