Poetry: The abuser

by Sheri Poe-Pape

Created on: January 19, 2010

He comes out of nowhere, ready to pounce,

on your thoughts, words, deeds to denounce,

never a moment does he utter a kindly word,

only when he wants something, how absurd!

Even at night as the twilight soothes the sky,

never to feel free and safe, this I cannot deny,

with his violence he enters my safe, soft lair,

dashing all last strings of hope with despair.

Words are not all that one is all subjected to,

physical pain I suffer because of likes of you,

in one brief moment, all my dreams dashed,

with just one action of your terrible backlash.

What future, if at all any, does it hold for me?

will I be subjected to this, or will I be set free?

Working so hard to breaks the chains of hell,

to a much deserved life and spirit that is well.
