Motivational tips for weight trainers

Weight training can be very rewarding, but knowing the reason behind why you want to weight train are the real reasons that will end up motivating ones self. So first of all, figure out the reasons why you want to train, weather it be physical, mental, maybe for the extra confidence in the work place, or even wanting to impress a lady friend. Either way these reasons are your foundations and the mental thoughts will open a whole can of motivational pushes that will get you doing what needs to be done. I personally think and a system I currently live by is the 1-5 rule. This is something I tend to look at on a daily basis, before and after training, on my recuperation days. It keeps me going, focused and most importantly motivated.

1.

Focus: Know your reasons. Life changes with the times as will your training schedule. A new job or busier work schedule for example, so understand why you do it in the first place. I need to be healthy, I want to feel good within myself as well as out, and so knowing this reason pushes me to the maximum. I always envisage an end result when I train, this pushes me when I workout and ultimately makes me reach for the higher bar, so to speak.

2.

Set a goal: It's a little different from the above, but the most important thing is to set realistic goals, set targets each month, and make sure you have a clear goal. I like to measure my biceps and waist measurements each month, along with my chest and legs, so that way an accurate recording can push me each month passing, ultimately motivating me each month harder and further. One of the best motivational pushes a person can give is when you know what your doing is actually working.

3.

Diet: This is the best of all. A healthy diet can motivate oneself more than you imagine. If you where to eat McDonald's for a week, notice how much training you would want to do while consuming all that junk food, probably not a lot at all. Then try a healthy high protein diet and you will see and feel the energetic wanting to go to the gymnasium. Food for me is one of the main reasons I go to the gym each day, and the reason I have such good workouts. I start the days with fruit smoothies, light snacks throughout the day up till I train, then after I eat high protein foods. This keeps me energized and ready for the next day.

4.

If you can envisage a look you might want to obtain when you train then this is great, I find this always pushes me when I need to get motivated or need that extra push to
