Improving your Power Point presentation will be the key to delivering your information efficiently and effectively. A Power Point presentation is a means of visual aid and should be treated as though. You and your content are what makes a Power Point presentation what it is. Sometimes less really does equal more.
There are a lot of presentations that consist of many slides, but the improved presentation should only contain the slides that you need to magnify your point. A lot of useless slides can actually hurt your content and cause more distraction than focus. Make the slides that you use count and try to limit your number of slides based on what you really want your audience to see.
Knowing your subject well is another way to improve a Power Point presentation. Speaking to the people there versus looking at your note cards or the presentation itself gives you a professional and knowledgeable appearance. This is what we strive for when giving these presentations and the more natural we can make them feel, the more responsive the audience will be to our subjects.
Use of color and graphics can be very easy to over use in a Power Point presentation. There are so many options where this is concerned that it is hard sometimes to choose just what is enough and what is to much. There are color schemes within the design option of Power Point that are matched for you to help deliver a comfortable theme and consistency within your slides. When using graphics or inserting charts, make sure you need them all. One well done chart can mean the difference between 2 slides and 10 slides. If every slide is a different chart, they may tend to run together and the audience may lose your point entirely.
Bullets are another character that can be easliy over used. Bullets should only be used for the most important points of your presentation. If everything is bulleted, then nothing in your presentation is particularly important. Bullets are great as long as they are used properly.
There are a lot of ways to improve your presentation. You can embed videos or use pictures. There is a huge assortment of clip art and even templates you can use to help you along. Taking the time to consider these options and if they are needed is the first step to improving your Power Point presentations.
