With Spongebob's basic colors and simple, square shape it is fun and easy to make a variety of Spongebob Squarepants crafts.

If you are interested in making Spongebob look exactly as he does in the cartoon, your best bet is to search online for printable images of Spongebob, such as those available at http://www.dltk-kids.com/Crafts/cartoons/spongebob.h tml.  Another option is to search

Google Images for Spongebob and print something you like for use in your Spongebob crafts.  With these images you can make posters, door hangers, photo frames, bookmarks, printable calendars, scrapbook pages, chore charts, and, even, iron-on t-shirt transfers.

Meanwhile, if you are looking for more original Spongebob Squarepants crafts, you might want to try cutting out shapes from some yellow, brown and white construction paper and making your own Spongebob doll.  To add more texture, try large bobble eyes, a yellow craft cotton ball for the nose and pipe cleaners for the arm and leg.  If you're looking to make a 3-D Spongebob Squarepants doll, you might want to start with an extra large yellow sponge.  Draw a line across the bottom quarter of the sponge and dip the sponge in brown paint for Spongebob's pants.  To add more details use colored Sharpie markers and more bobble eyes and pipe cleaners. While it won't look exactly like the cartoon, kids will enjoy the act of making their very own Spongebob doll.  If you can't find a large yellow sponge, you might try making a Spongebob puppet out of a yellow sock, brown felt and bobble eyes.

Another fun option for a Spongebob craft is to buy  Spongebob stickers and print an underwater background. By laminating the underwater background the stickers can be used and reused like Colorforms.  This offers kids the joy of craft making and the imaginative play associated with inventing their own Spongebob stories.

A variation on this theme would be to design a Spongebob set.. Take your underwater background scene and tape it to the side of a cereal box.  Then print Spongebob characters and laminate them and tape them to the ends of popsicle sticks.  Kids can act out stories with the characters in front of the ocean background and even make short cartoon clips using a digital video camera.

The simplest Spongebob Squarepants craft is to find printable Spongebob coloring pages online.  Pages such as these are available for nearly all character creations.

No matter how easy or difficult your Spongebob Squarepants crafts for kids may be, children who are fans of Spongebob are sure to enjoy the opportunity to make a craft from one of their favorite TV characters.
