Motherhood is definitely not indicative of the termination of writing. Motherhood represents a transition, a period of time within a person's life in which significant change occurs. Suddenly, the individual has the beautiful experience of being a mother and understanding the process of loving and caring for a child. As a writer, it may be a concern that the priorities of motherhood will remove the time originally dedicated to writing; however, this is not necessarily the truth. Although motherhood has the potential to remove some time from that which was previously dedicated to writing, it also has the potential to contribute a significant amount of depth to the writing process. Motherhood does not spell the end of writing because it presents new perspectives concerning the development of written compositions.

Motherhood not only allows for an individual to learn about children, but it also permits the individual to appreciate life and creation in an entirely different way. The sentiments associated with becoming a mother are different from those felt before the onset of such an occurrence. When one has a child of their own, they begin to appreciate children in a completely different respect. The reason for this is that motherhood accompanies responsibility. Mothers want the best for their children, and in turn want to love and care for their children in the proper way.

In caring for children, however, previous devotions, such as writing, do not have to be forsaken. Obviously, becoming a mother does remove some of the time that may have originally been dedicated to this endeavor. Especially when children are young, mothers will not have an abundance of time to themselves because children need a significant amount of attention. Also, motherhood is so enjoyable that the mother will become fascinated by the child and want to experience every aspect of his or her development. Nevertheless, such observations and processes can only contribute to potential writing material, rather than take away from it.

Writers usually specialize within a particular subject area. However, motherhood will allow for a writer to comprehend these subjects within a different manner. Not only can material be created based on the activities of the child, and the joy of being a mother, but also, a quality of maturity and a shift in tone can be added to the original style. Any difference in perspective or subject area will contribute greatly to the life of a writer.

Therefore, motherhood does not spell the end of writing. Instead, motherhood creates a new beginning. Writers that become mothers can not only contribute a different level of understanding to their previous works, but they can also form new compositions based on the new qualities and priorities within their lives. Less time may be available, yet it will still be possible to write. Within those moments, a writer can find their love once again and discover the innovation of their voice and style.
