Poetry: The unknown

by John Bishop

Created on: January 17, 2010

A stir in the darkness, and I wake to find.
You've cut my flesh and sawed the bone away.
Now there's a hole, where my heart used to beat.
And through that, my soul flew away.

I'll become immortal, in a higher place.
So when I look below, and I see your face.
I'll see all your "rights" were wrongs.
Wrongs that you cannot replace.
So sad you wouldn't join me.
You just went your own way.

After the pain you have caused me.
And the way you walked away.
Leaving me alone to fade.
There is one last thing I want to say:

This is the last time.
That I'll allow you to do this to me.
That I'll allow myself to bleed.
Even though I still breathe.
With this one last breath.
I'll breathe to say these things.
I'm done, this is over.
No longer can I cover.
And tell everyone everything is alright.
To turn around and cry at night.
