The causes of high blood pressure could be many and the health care professionals had already come up with a diagnosis for all of them. About 10 percent of all the high blood pressure diagnosis are called secondary hypertension and that means that there is another problem that is causing the hypertension, Among them are Kidney disease, tumors or other diseases of the adrenal glands, coarctation of the aorta and thyroid dysfunction. These are the most common and being pregnant can raise the blood pressure. The vast majority of the diagnosis fall under essential hypertension which in reality means that the medical class don't know the causes of high blood pressure.
For all 90 percent of those falling under essential hypertension there isn't any other treatment except medication. In order for a doctor to treat they need a diagnosis. That is why also they have come up with such "essential hypertension". High blood pressure medications are dangerous and some are considered by many doctors and health professionals even more dangerous than even high blood pressure itself. But this is the reality for the orthodox medicine.
However, there are many different approaches besides orthodox medicine that have being willing to identify many other causes for high blood pressure that orthodox medicine are not willing to take a look at it because they are either too busy prescribing medications and have no time to update themselves and study the new studies. Other health professionals has been able to step aside of the conventional wisdom and practice different approaches with good results. And this is what is all about, medicine is a practice and if something works let it be for the benefit of the population.
The intake of high amount of sodium can't be a cause of high blood pressure since many people can tolerate high intake of sodium and never develop high blood pressure. The question is then: why some can and others can't tolerate even a slight over-consumption of sodium? Many health professionals believe that the sodium-potassium pump within our cells that get rid of the excess of sodium in our bodies works perfect for many and not that good for some. That pump works with ions of sodium and ions of potassium. Two ions of sodium enters the cell removing from the inside of the cells three ions of sodium. They believe that some people's pump are too slow removing the sodium out of the inside the cell and the body increases the volume of water inside the cell to dilute the sodium.
Here is an animation of how this pump works: http://highered.mcgraw-hill.com/sites/0072495855/stu dent_view0/chapter2/animation__how_the_sodium_potass ium_pump_works.html
Others causes of high blood pressure are a fungus infestation many people, especially females, suffer. They are known as Candida Albicans yeasts, These are aggressive yeasts that live within the intestinal flora and our good bacterias keep them under control. When there is too much antibiotics used for a long period of time and the consumption of too much sugar, the good bacterias that defend us die in great quantities and the yeasts take advantage of it. The yeasts go up colonizing all the way up to our sinuses and when they enter the lungs they cover the area living us with asthma attacks and high blood pressure. There are other causes that are under study but these are the most common today and the treatment of them are producing positive results.
